Highlights of the old town of Vienna – Hofburg to St. Stephan’s Cathedral

This walking tour starts at the Vienna State Opera. Passing by the legendary Hotel Sacher, we walk across Albertinaplatz square to Hofburg Palace, the former residence of the Habsburg dynasty. Here was the center of their power during hundreds of years.  Hear and see where Empress Elisabeth “Sisi” got married, where the Vienna Boys‘ Choir sings Holy Mass every Sunday and where the famous Lipizzaner horses of the Spanish Riding School do their elegant jumps. We enjoy a great view from Heldenplatz square and stroll along elegant Kohlmarkt boasting the most exclusive shops of Vienna. Have a look at Demel pastry shop, they were purveyors to the Imperial and Royal Court. Still today confectionery art in highest perfection is to be found here. Passing Graben, we reach St Stephen’s Cathedral, Vienna’s most famous landmark.

This tour gives you a great first impression of the city. If you wish, I will give you further suggestions for your sightseeing program.
