“Heuriger” (Viennese traditional wine tavern)

It is quite exceptional for a capital city to have substantial wine-growing areas like Vienna does. The roughly 1800 acres of  grapes that are planted in Vienna yield approximately 530,000 gallons of predominantly white wine are. A “Heuriger” is a wine tavern. In addition, it is also the term that is used for the current year’s wine. The famous Viennese wine areas are Grinzing, Neustift and Nußdorf. A small selection of “Heuriger“:
